My first encounter wasn’t as bad. It was in their first Barcelona location. We ordered online, went there on time and had to wait. Waiting is never good. Let’s be clear, if you tell me to come at a certain time, please have the order ready. Small detail? We were alone in the restaurant.
I didn’t think much of it. We can all have unexpected problems. It could’ve been a one-day thing. I guess I we were unlucky. Or so I thought.
A few weeks ago a new location opened in Barcelona and we decided to try again. We ordered online and there I was a few minutes before the scheduled time. I do this because when I go to Dominos, my order is always ready before the scheduled time. I go before that time because I don’t want my pizza to be sitting there getting cold.
I got there and no one asked me a thing. If I wanted to order or pick up. Nothing. They were so busy they couldn’t pay attention to the people waiting by the counter.
If they really saw me, which I think they did, did they assume because I stayed in the restaurant without calling them over that I was there to pick up? Even so, shouldn’t you ask me my name in case the order is already ready?
Nothing. So I wait a little. After a while, I decided to ask them. The guy says he’ll be with me in a minute, as he’s busy doing something else. He never comes out again.
At this point I’m speechless 😶 What the heck is going on here?
I hear from afar the people checking orders mentioning my order. A custom order. They get confused for a second on the custom ingredients but they get to it. At this point, we are past the scheduled delivery time. They now start to create my pizza 👨🏻🍳
After the pizzas come out of the over I hear a man shouting that the toppings on the order are not correct, they must re-do the pizza. Yes, it was my order 😑
I had ordered 2 pizzas. At this point, I don’t know if they are re-doing both or just one. If they’re making just 1, will the other sit there and get cold?
As I watch through the glass I see how the pizzas in the oven start to stack up until one falls down to the floor 😱 That’s right, they’re so lost in that new kitchen that they let a pizza fall onto the floor.
Pizzas keep stacking at the end of the oven 🥞
I am not sure if that was my pizza. For a moment I’m scared. Will they need to re-do it again?!
Another pizza is a few centimeters from falling but the guy caught it in time.
After 30 minutes after the scheduled time they call me over and I get my order. As I pay I tell the woman at the counter that they are 30 minutes late. She simply answers: “Oh, I see”
She does not even make the effort of saying they’re sorry, does not include any extra for free like drinks or ice cream. Talk about customer service… 🤦🏻♂️
I left Papa John’s knowing I wouldn’t come back ever again. You know what the funny part is? Our regular Domino’s Pizza place is just a block away. Lesson learned ✅
Have you tried Papa John’s? If you, how was your experience?
